A Letter from the CEO and the Board Chair

On March 12, 2012, Girl Scouts will celebrate its 100th anniversary. It is a great cause for celebration! For the past century, Girl Scouts has been the premier leadership organization for girls. With more than 50 million alumnae, the impact and role of Girl Scouts in this country and Texas is undeniable and far reaching. As we reflect on our many accomplishments of 2011, we embrace the future with enthusiasm and confidence. We look towards our next 100 years with the intention of keeping our vision and dream for all girls a reality.

Girl Scouts of Central Texas strives to create an environment where girls can discover themselves and their values; a place where they can connect with others, push boundaries and test limits; a place where they can develop their leadership potential and take action; a place that will serve as the launch pad for a successful life.

Through the eyes of a Girl Scout, the world is wide open. Alejandra will be accepted to that University she only dreamed possible. Tamika, though only 13, will have the confidence to submit her idea for the latest iPhone application. During recess, Brandy will be compelled to speak up for the boy in her third grade class she has noticed being bullied. Unexpectedly, Girl Scout Leader Sharon, learned through her troop that it's never too late to build the courage to be a guest speaker!

It is the difference Girl Scouts are making today that add up to the successful world of tomorrow. Imagine a new generation of leaders who lead in an innovative way, stepping across barriers of class and ethnicity, guiding out principle rather pride, actively seeking out the work that needs to be done in the world and bringing boundless energy and enthusiasm to each challenge. We imagine this every day and it guides our actions.

You can join us in investing in the future of girls. When our first 100 years lead into our next 100 years, you can be a part of it. Together we can be the catalyst for change. Together, we can provide a powerful leadership experience, helping girls develop the tools of courage, confidence and character to build a meaningful life. Together, we can make the world a better place.

Yours in Girl Scouting,

Etta Moore, CEO

Linda Pelton, Board Chair
